Heavy Equipment Operator

The primary responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Operator is to assist with the beautification of a roadway project in which plants of varying types and sizes will be installed. The Heavy Equipment Operator will handle the drilling of holes and movement of trees utilizing best horticultural practices. Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for adhering to the safety plan and maintaining a professional image at all times.

• Attends daily safety and planning meeting.
• Operates various equipment for landscaping front end loader, backhoe, excavator
• Performs routine inspection of equipment and supplies
• Keeps record of time on equipment by man hours
• Assists documenting team's production each day
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Team player to coordinate work with other team members to achieve deadlines.
• Ability to understand English to follow directions and communicate on a base level with supervisors and co-workers.
• Thinks ahead and completes tasks efficiently and safely.
• Able to perform manual labor with a shovel or rake or other hand tools.
• Maintains constant safety awareness and brings any unsafe situation to the attention of Supervisors.

Qualified candidates will be tested on equipment prior to being allowed on job-site and must have a valid driver's license with less than 6 points to be insurable.

Preferred candidates will have a minimum of two (2) years of field experience in heavy equipment operation, a working knowledge of equipment maintenance, and experience with working as a team.

Experience with new construction irrigation or landscape installation a PLUS.

Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, reaching, climbing and lifting for prolonged periods of time, lifting and carrying 50 pounds, and working with hand tools, power tools, and other hand tools.
